Tour the historic one and a half story farmhouse built in 1780 for the daughter of Eleazar Wheelock, founder of Dartmouth College. The rooms and antiques evoke much of Dartmouth's and Hanover's past as well as some of the personalities who gave color and meaning to that past. Daniel Webster lived there as a student in 1800; Henry Fowle Durant was born there in 1822, and grew up to found Wellesley College, and Alice Van Leer Carrick put the cottage on the map with her book, The Next to Nothing House written as she was a resident and antique expert there in the early 20th century.
